Perazzi

Daniele Perazzi founded Armi Perazzi in 1957, at the age of 25.¹ He set up his first workshop in his parents’ home.² There he made shotguns during the week, and at weekends he sold them to shooters and hunters on the shooting grounds of northern Italy.² Perazzi’s production complex now stands at Botticino, in the province of Brescia, Lombardy.^{3, 4}

At the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, Ennio Mattarelli won with a Perazzi and a score of 198 out of 200.^{5, 6} He returned to the Olympics in Mexico in 1968 with an MX8.⁶ Later Olympic medals came with the MX8, MX2000/8 and SC3.⁷

Perazzi’s Botticino complex covers 20,000 square metres, including a production plant of 9,000 square metres.³ Its departments include assembly, woodwork, machining, barrel making, heat treatment, galvanic treatment, bluing and shotgun testing.⁸ Gunsmiths fit the components by hand to each customer’s specifications.⁹ The company’s address is Via Daniele Perazzi 1/3, Botticino Mattina.⁴

Perazzi USA, at Azusa, California, imports and distributes the company’s guns in the United States.¹⁰ Czechoslovak Group owns 80% of Armi Perazzi, and Mauro and Roberta Perazzi hold the remaining 20% in equal shares.¹¹ Mauro described the partnership as a way to secure the company’s future and support its growth.¹² He and Roberta remain in the management team alongside the chief executive, Paolo Buffoli.¹³
