Overview
The BR110 is Rizzini’s boxlock over-and-under, made in field, sporting and small-bore versions.1 The Luxe has a blued steel receiver with laser engraving and gold-plated names.2 The Light Luxe has a grey alloy receiver with ornamental sides and game scenes on its underside.3 The Sporter Trap has fixed chokes and a non-selective single trigger.4
The Sporter locks with a bottom bolt and has fixed lockwork with coil springs.5 Its selective single trigger works by recoil.5 The Small Action tested in January 2019 has a mechanical trigger instead.6

Identify and date
Rizzini puts its maker marks on the receiver and barrel.28 The Small Action tested in January 2019 has the maker’s name in gold on both sides and BR110 Small underneath.29 Italian proof stamps sit beneath the rear of the barrels and on the action.30 The Dakota’s Turkish walnut stock has an Optowood finish.15

Proof date
The stamp gives the year of proof. CZ applies up to 31 May 2020, and 20 from 1 June 2020. The later stamp encloses the year’s last two digits in a rectangle.32, 33, 34
Before you buy
- Check that the maker marks on the receiver and barrel match the gun offered for sale.28
- Read the chamber marks on the fitted barrels: for the 28-gauge Sporter, the Italian technical sheet gives 70 mm and the general catalogue 76 mm.5, 4
- Identify the choke family before buying replacement tubes: Standard flush tubes do not interchange with Plus or XL Bore tubes.35
- Inspect the removable tubes for dents or deformation: Rizzini requires a damaged tube to be replaced.36
- Look for the steel-shot approval stamp on the barrel sleeve and the Steel Shot marking on the tubes; Rizzini also advises against steel in Full or Improved Modified tubes.31, 36
- Check the tubes against the version: the US Sporting comes with extended tubes in 12 and 20 gauge and flush tubes in 28 gauge and .410.22
- Check the warranty: Rizzini’s manual limits cover to the original purchaser.37
History
Rizzini USA added the BR110 to its US range in 2017.9 In January 2019 a magazine tested the Small Action in .410.38, 39 By March 2020 the Light Luxe had replaced the Light, which was catalogued through 2019.40, 21 The Light Luxe has game scenes beneath the receiver and a round fore-end with a push-button release.41
