The F3 has horizontal hammers and a mechanical selective that works independently of recoil.1, 6 Balancers in the and barrels let the shooter alter the weight distribution.7 Barrel sets in 20-, 28- and .410 fit the same 12- frame.8

The Luxus comes with ornamental or pheasant and duck motifs.9 The Grand Luxe has relief partridges and pheasants among leaf arabesques on its .10 The Baronesse has engraved long .11

Identify and date

On the 2009 test gun, F3 appears on the receiver sides and Blaser beneath the receiver.21, 22 The 2010 Professional Game has yellow F3 lettering at the lower rear of its walls.15, 16, 23 On the selector, B stands for Bottom and T for Top.24 The F16, by contrast, has silver F16 lettering on the Game and red on the Sporting.17, 18

Proof date

The year mark gives the year’s last two digits and may include the month. On application, the proof ordinance lets the letters below replace the digits, with either I or J for 8.25

Before you buy

  1. On an early gun, inspect the tube-to- joint for rust and the bores for -post marks; a 2008 review found both problems.26, 27
  2. On a Professional Sporter, check that the barrel-weight mounting block and the full set of weights are present.26, 28, 29
  3. Match a replacement barrel set to the of the : the manual allows smaller- barrels with a larger- fore-end, but not the reverse.30
  4. Keep suitable tubes fitted; with steel, tungsten, tungsten iron or molyshot, the manual rules out Improved Modified, Full, and Extra Full or tighter.31
  5. Check that the threads are clean and lightly oiled, and that the supplied key is present.32

History

Blaser introduced the F3 to the US in 2004.1 By June 2008, the Professional Sporter had revised dimensions, a reduced and a London pattern .33, 27, 29 By then the tube-to- joint had also changed, and Competition barrels had mounting blocks for barrel weights.26 The MkII, reviewed in May 2010, brought a further change to the angle and profile.34, 23

The 2025 catalogue lists four models: Competition, Vantage, Supersport and Supertrap.2, 19, 14 The Supersport is for Sporting disciplines and Olympic .19 The Supertrap comes as an , an Under-Single or a Combo, with an adjustable .19
