he 687 Silver Pigeon 500 Years is a commemorative built on Beretta’s 680 platform.1 Beretta made 1,526 guns in each of its hunting and Sporting versions.2 The edition carries a gold anniversary logo beneath the receiver and floral with gold details.3

In the UK the edition has Steelium barrels with an 80 mm double progressive .3 Both versions take Optima- HP tubes and have a rounded .3 The hunting measures 6×6 mm and the Sporting 10×8 mm.3

Identify and date

The gold 500 Years logo sits on the underside of the receiver.3 On Gun Mart’s test gun, the edition serial number sits on the top tang beside a small gold spark.18 The barrel side carries the and length, and the proof stamps sit on the rear underside of the barrels and on the .19, 20 The standard Silver Pigeon III differs, with game-scene and Grade 2.5 wood with a gloss finish.11

Proof date

The stamp gives the year of proof. CZ applies up to 31 May 2020, and 20 from 1 June 2020. The later stamp encloses the year’s last two digits in a rectangle.21, 22, 23

  1. Check that the gun has its dedicated serial number and the gold logo beneath the receiver.3
  2. Ask for the official certificate of authenticity that Beretta supplies with the edition.24
  3. Read the mark on the barrels: Gun Mart’s test gun had 2¾-inch chambers, but The Field’s Sporter had 3-inch chambers.19, 14, 17
  4. Match replacement tubes to the Beretta family marked on the gun; each family has its own threads and dimensions.25
  5. Check that the suits the version: Gun Mart reports a B-Fast adjustable on the Sporter and a fixed on the Field.15
  6. Check that the top suits the version claimed: 6×6 mm on the hunting gun, 10×8 mm on the Sporting.3

History

Beretta announced the 687 Silver Pigeon 500 Years on 7 June 2026.8, 9 The edition marked the company’s 500th anniversary.24 Production was split into 1,526 hunting guns and 1,526 Sporting guns, each with its own serial number.9 Each gun has selected Grade 3 walnut, hand-polished and gold details.9
