he K-80 is Krieghoff’s competition , built around one receiver for , and Sporting.1, 2 Its sliding top latch secures the barrels above the receiver.3 The sits in front of the adjustable shoe.4

Because of the top latch, the gun needs no underbites or side lugs.3 Coiled main and springs drive the lockwork.3 The mechanical does not rely on recoil to select the second barrel.5 Krieghoff also offers single and double release systems by special order, and a model with a removable , the K-80/RT.4

Identify and date

The safety sits on the top tang behind the opening lever and has a push button.12 An S shows when the safety is on and is covered when the gun is ready to fire.7 The selector is marked B for the bottom barrel and T for the top.5 The Parcours-X tapers from 10 to 8 mm without a centre groove.13

In the 2023 catalogue, the Victoria comes in 12, 20 and 28 bore.21 Its Ladies Victoria has an adjustable , an and Victoria .21 Fixed Modified and Improved Modified come as standard, with KTW tubes optional.21

Proof date

The year mark gives the year’s last two digits and may include the month. On application, the proof ordinance lets the letters below replace the digits, with either I or J for 8.23

Proof date codes

Given the model and serial number, Krieghoff can often identify a gun’s age.24 Contact the maker

Before you buy

  1. Have the top latch and lever position checked: wear moves the lever left and closes the gap between the latch and the , and Krieghoff sends owners to an authorised service centre to renew the lock-up.7
  2. Check the service record: for dedicated clay competitors, Krieghoff recommends a service every 15,000–20,000 rounds or two to three years.22
  3. Confirm the type: Krieghoff offers a mechanical single trigger and, by special order, single and double release systems.4
  4. Inspect the tubes for corrosion, damage and obstruction, and do not overtighten them.25
  5. If fixed- barrels have been converted, check that they take thin-wall tubes; the original extended titanium tubes cannot be fitted to them.26
  6. Check that KTW Pro tubes suit the barrels: they fit 12- Parcours or Parcours-X barrels threaded for FlushFit .27
  7. Read the mark; with steel shot of US No. 2 (4 mm) or larger, Krieghoff allows chokes no tighter than Modified.28
  8. Check the fit with each barrel set; a different height can mean adjusting or replacing the .29

History

Krieghoff introduced the K-80 in 1980 as the K-32’s successor.10 It kept the older gun’s , locks and mechanics but strengthened their metallurgy and construction.30 Krieghoff states that a K-32 built in 1958 can take modern K-80 parts.30 The K-20 joined the range in 2000 as the K-80’s smaller sister.31

In August 2020 Krieghoff announced the 32-inch Parcours-X barrel set, to be available that autumn.32 The set introduced a flat 10–8 mm without a centre groove, and flush thin-wall .32 Extended 12- KTW Pro tubes with an S-K thread followed in July 2021.33
